your journey begins...
Your task for this assignment is to put yourself in the shoes of immigrants coming to America through Ellis Island during the late 1800's and early 1900's. You will explore the reasons many people left their homelands and what life was like for them once they arrived.

You will be asked to present your findings creatively to the class. This could be in the form of a brief slideshow or skit. Please be sure to include answers to the following:
Part 2:
The second part of this assignment is to create a small journal for someone coming to America. This journal needs to be written in first person (use "I"!). You may discuss this part of the assignment with other members of your group, but each member must turn in their own unique journal. You should include three journal entries: one discussing reasons for leaving your homeland, one discussing your journey to America and entry through Ellis Island, and one discussing life once you have finally arrived in America. Each entry should be 2-3 paragraphs. Be creative!
